Jo Berry’s Art Brain Mapping Workshops at Blackpool Central Library for Arts for Health

This is a taster of imagery with links from ‘Jo Berry’s Art Brain Mapping Workshops’ which are part of the public engagement work I have been doing with the Arts for Health Group in Blackpool, funded by Arts Council England. Work has been exhibited at the Central Library in Blackpool, November 2013.  The art workshops have taken inspiration from the Neuroimaging Data used by myself to create a new installation piece called ’ Brain Container’ for Blackpool during the Illuminations in 2014. The work also referenced the work of the New York based artist, Zoe Beloff, whose exhibition ‘Dreamland ’ was showing at the Grundy Gallery in Blackpool in October/November and some of the eccentric,  fantastic archival material held in Blackpool Archives. Some of which was very outrageous, including images from the Midget Tower which existed in Blackpool Tower, the Freak Shows from Victorian Blackpool and other surreal images from different historical periods of Blackpool.

As well as an exhibition at the Blackpool Central Library we also presented writings, poetry and a projection piece of a wide selection of participants work at a special evening named to sum up this eclectic mix of inspiration and activities.  ‘Ice Cream and Dream Night’ was kindly hosted by The Lancashire Deadgood Poets Society at Cafe No. 5 in Blackpool. The presentation has been uploaded to You Tube and other imagery and information can be viewed on the Arts for Health Blog Spot; follow the links below:
